The MA in International Education (MAIED) is designed for professionals at the beginning or midpoint of their careers who have at least one year of relevant experience in the field of traditional and/or international education. The program will encourage students to demonstrate their ability to interact with cultures or groups different from their own and to successfully complete high-quality master’s-level work in an independent, virtual setting. Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English is strongly recommended, and proficiency in a language other than English is an asset.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
MAE501 - The World of International Education (10 ECTS/4 US Credits)
This course introduces students to international education from a multicultural perspective. It examines the educational philosophies and paradigms specific to different cultural contexts and explores methods for reconciling the cultural attitudes and practices of different societies around the world. The course covers various aspects of educational practices in Latin America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
MAE502 - Theories of International Education (10 ECTS/4 US Credits)
This course explores the theoretical foundations of culture and its connections to learning. Perspectives and practices related to education are examined in light of demographic characteristics and socioeconomic factors, while human rights issues and various societal problems are analyzed in terms of their influence on teaching and learning.
MAE503 - Pedagogy and Methodology in International Education (10 ECTS/4 US Credits)
This course presents the current foundations and applications of pedagogical methods relevant to international education contexts. Critical thinking, constructivist theory, and cultural theories guide students as they prepare to become global administrators and teachers. Students will conduct research, develop, and implement instructional plans through classroom simulations.
MAE504 - Technology in International Education (10 ECTS/4 US Credits)
This course focuses on the intersection of learning theory and the application of technology in both traditional and online educational contexts. Throughout this course, emphasis is placed on the use of the latest technological resources, while adhering to local and national educational standards.
MAE505 - Curriculum and Instruction in International Education (10 ECTS/4 US Credits)
This course focuses on the development of educational materials for elementary, secondary, and higher education institutions. It is structured around four general themes: international advocacy, cultural exchange, teaching and learning, and study abroad opportunities. Students will develop an action plan (AP) for their educational projects.
MAE506 - Special Projects * (15 ECTS/ 6 US Credits)
This course allows students to choose a specific topic within their area of specialization. Assignments completed as part of this course may include research and the writing of a thesis, the implementation of practical teaching and learning simulations in local schools, or any other practical application agreed upon between the instructor and the student.
